RECIPE
Horsey Gouda Burger
with Horseradish Mayonnaise, Caramelized Onions, and Bacon
Want to elevate your weeknight dinner offering? Create an epic and indulgent burger by adding sweet, caramelized onions, crispy bacon, and spicy horseradish mayonnaise on a buttery brioche bun. Delicious!
INSTRUCTIONS
- Season pattie evenly with salt and pepper and place it on a grill or flat top at 350 F.
- Once the pattie begins to form juice pockets on the top (approximately 3 1/2 minutes), it’s ready to flip. Do not press on the pattie, as it will release important juices and lead to a dry finished product.
- Before removing the pattie from the grill or flat top, top it with the caramelized onion bacon jam and smoked gouda until the cheese melts.
- Place the pattie on the bottom bun.
- Spread horseradish mayonnaise on the top bun.
- Place bun on top and secure it with a sandwich toothpick.

Caramelized Onion Bacon Mix
INSTRUCTIONS
- Freeze the bacon partially to facilitate dicing.
- Once diced, place bacon in a large pot or stove-top braising dish.
- Cook on medium heat until the bacon is cooked through.
- Remove bacon from pan, keeping most of the fat in the pan to cook the onions.
- Place the onions in the pan and cook on medium heat until caramelized, stirring often. This is a slow cooking process that should take approximately 45-60 minutes so that sugars are released, producing a sweet flavor.
- Once the onions are ready, stir in the bacon.
- Cool mixture on sheet trays.
